In Our Mission

First Presbyterian Church actively participates in a number of missions in the community. Among them are the Crisis Center, the Good Samaritan Food Pantry, the Backpack nutrition program for children, Habitat for Humanity and the work of the Rensselaer Area Ministers’ Association.

We also take part in national and world mission by assembling disaster relief kits, by supporting Wycliffe Bible Translators, by supporting medical mission through Malawi Matters, and helping to sponsor mission co-workers in Egypt.

Our children have also raised money for livestock enterprises in the U.S. and overseas through the Heifer Project.

We also support the larger mission work of the Presbyterian Church (USA).

Our Mission Committee directs our mission work and would welcome your participation.

Youth and Family

Our “FPC 9-ers” Youth group, named for the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit in the Bible, meet at 5:30-7 pm on Wednesdays, under the direction of our Youth Minister Stephanie Davisson. They begin with supper together, and then enjoy singing, crafts, Bible study and prayer.

Each summer there is a Vacation Bible School.

There are also special fun days throughout the year. Check out our calendar or contact us today to see what's happening in the future.

Get Involved

If you like to sing we have a strong music program led by our Music Director Stephanie Davisson.

If you like to volunteer we have several opportunities.

Our church staffs the Good Samaritan Food Pantry the third Saturday of the month, so that working poor people can be helped.

If you like to study the Bible we have a group that meets Tuesday evenings.

We also have seasonal adult studies which follow worship on Sundays from 10:45-11:30 am.

Topics may include prayer, the Bible and various current issues.
